E Ink has a foldable 10.2-inch display

E Ink demonstrates a new electronic ink display that can be folded and looks amazingly like an ordinary book.

E Ink screens are very well visible in direct sunlight. Moreover, with this technology, electrical energy is consumed only when the image is updated and thus the time for autonomous operation of such devices is significantly renewed.

The displayed screen may be folded like a book, and so the device is perfect for new generation electronic readers.

The demonstration display has a diagonal size of 10.2 inches, and the image density is 220 dots per inch. The image is monochrome, and instead of glass, special, robust and flexible plastic is used.

It is important to note that E Ink is ready to commence mass production of folding displays very soon. This means that the first e-book readers with folding screens can be expected at the end of this or the beginning of next year.
